Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You need a lower back tooth (molar or premolar) pulled and later replaced with a dental implant
- You have at least one other tooth next to the tooth being pulled
- After the tooth is pulled, more than half of the bone on the cheek side is missing
- You do not have active gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes, or a history of certain cancer treatments or jaw bone medications
- You are not a heavy smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes a day) and can maintain good oral hygiene
