Comparing one vs. multiple nasal treatments in NICU babies

This study tests whether giving one versus multiple doses of a special nasal treatment (called nasal microbiota therapy, or NMT) changes the types of helpful bacteria in your baby's nose. The goal is to see if the treatment keeps bad bacteria, like staph, from growing.

Who can take part

  • Your baby must be in the NICU for at least 7 days.
  • Your baby must be at least 25 weeks old (from when you got pregnant).
  • You (the parent or guardian) must not have staph bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) in your nose.
  • Your baby must not have staph bacteria in their nose.
  • You must be able to give written permission for the study.
