Study breathing treatment and early immunity in newborns after COVID

Who can take part

  • Your baby was born between 24 and 41 weeks of pregnancy (not earlier than 24 weeks).
  • Your baby is currently within the first 3 months of life and is cared for at the hospital’s maternity or newborn unit.
  • Your baby must be in one of these groups: COVID around birth (antenatal positive test in pregnancy or baby positive throat/stool PCR) OR needs inhaled nitric oxide for severe breathing/heart-lung problems OR is a matched control without COVID and without inhaled nitric oxide.
  • Both parents can provide written consent for the study.
  • Both parents are able to read and understand French (the study cannot be joined if they cannot).
  • Your baby does not have certain severe brain injuries (specific serious brain ultrasound/MRI findings).
