Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have a rotator cuff tear that your surgeon can fix with surgery
  • You are eligible for military health care (DEERS)
  • You can speak and read English
  • You agree to avoid tobacco for the entire study (if you currently use tobacco, you must quit for at least 6 months before joining)
  • You have not had shoulder surgery before (except for minor procedures like bone shaving or a look inside the joint)
