Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have a rotator cuff tear that your surgeon can fix with surgery
- You are eligible for military health care (DEERS)
- You can speak and read English
- You agree to avoid tobacco for the entire study (if you currently use tobacco, you must quit for at least 6 months before joining)
- You have not had shoulder surgery before (except for minor procedures like bone shaving or a look inside the joint)
