Who can take part
- You are 60 or older, or under 60 but your doctor feels you need a gentler treatment.
- You have acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with a FLT3 mutation (ITD, D835, or I836del).
- You have not had prior treatment for AML (except hydroxyurea, all-trans retinoic acid, emergency cytarabine, or leukapheresis).
- You have not received any hypomethylating agents (like azacitidine or decitabine) or FLT3 inhibitors.
- Your liver and kidney function tests must be within certain limits.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and if you could become pregnant, you agree to use effective contraception during and after treatment.
