Who can take part

  • You are 19 years or older
  • You are scheduled to have laparoscopic surgery (keyhole surgery)
  • You do not have an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • You do not use a pacemaker or have had a heart transplant
  • You are not taking certain medications that affect pain monitoring (talk to your doctor)
  • You do not have a brain or nerve condition like dementia, stroke, epilepsy, or a brain tumor
