VISTA protein in blood vessel-related memory problems
Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This study measures levels of a protein called VISTA in the blood of people with memory problems caused by blood vessel disease. It aims to see if VISTA can help diagnose or predict this condition.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older
- Have memory or thinking problems linked to blood vessel disease (vascular cognitive impairment)
- Be willing to give a blood sample and take memory tests
- Not have an autoimmune disease, active infection, or recent heart attack
- Not be taking antibiotics, steroids, or immune-suppressing medicines
- Not have had a head injury or brain surgery

This study looks at whether certain deep brain veins seen on MRI are linked to thinking and memory problems in people with small-vessel brain disease. It compares brain scan findings with cognitive (thinking) testing to better understand what may drive cognitive dysfunction.
This study tracks people with cerebral small vessel disease (changes in the brain's tiny blood vessels) to learn more about how the condition progresses. It may be a good fit if you are 50 or older and have had an MRI showing these changes.
This study aims to find early ways to diagnose “vascular dementia,” which happens when blood vessel problems affect thinking and memory. It may help by testing how well certain health risk factors and medical information can predict who might be developing it.
This trial looks at people who may have “small vessel” problems in the brain, which can cause stroke, memory trouble, walking changes, movement symptoms, or headaches. It may help researchers better understand the genetic and non-genetic causes, which could improve future diagnosis and treatment.
This trial tests combining cognitive training (brain exercises) with a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to improve thinking and memory in people with mild cognitive impairment related to small blood vessel disease (vascular dementia).
This study looks at how brain scans (CT or MRI) relate to symptoms in people with blood vessel problems in the brain. If you've already had a brain scan for medical reasons, you may be able to join.
