Who can take part
- You are at least 22 years old
- You are scheduled for planned (not emergency) bypass surgery using a heart-lung machine
- You have been diagnosed with heart failure with reduced pumping strength
- Your heart's ejection fraction is between 20% and 40% (checked within the last month)
- You have a normal heart rhythm (sinus rhythm) and no history of atrial fibrillation or flutter
- You do not have a pacemaker or defibrillator already implanted
