Who can take part
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the middle or lower esophagus (or the junction with the stomach).
- Your cancer is at a stage where it has not spread to distant organs (stage II to IVb, M0), or it is in nearby lymph nodes but not elsewhere.
- You are at least 18 years old and in generally good health (able to care for yourself, with a performance status score of 0 or 1 on the ECOG scale).
- You have no other active cancer in the last 2 years that could interfere with treatment, and no prior chest radiation that overlaps with the planned treatment area.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you have no condition that would make it hard to follow the study plan (such as travel issues or psychological concerns).
