  • You are having surgery with general anesthesia
  • You are having a partial lung removal, or will be on a ventilator during surgery
  • Your physical status is rated ASA 2 or 3
  • You do not have chronic lung disease like asthma or COPD
  • You have not smoked (if providing a blood sample)
  • You are not taking immunotherapy or have HIV, hepatitis B, C, or D
