Who can take part
- You are 18 or older.
- You had a breathing tube (orotracheal intubation) for more than 48 hours.
- You do not have a brain or nerve condition (like stroke, Parkinson's, or ALS) that could cause swallowing problems.
- You did not have swallowing problems before you were intubated.
- You can eat at least some food by mouth.
- You do not have head or neck cancer, past surgery, or injury that affects swallowing.
