TXA vs Placebo for Pain After Wrist Surgery

This study tests if tranexamic acid (TXA), a medicine used to reduce bleeding, can help lessen pain right after wrist fracture surgery. You may be able to join if you had breast cancer and radiation at least a year ago, are not currently on active cancer treatment, and don't take blood thinners or daily strong pain pills.

Who can take part

  • You're having surgery to fix a broken wrist (distal radius) through a cut on the palm side of your forearm.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You understand English well enough to answer study questions.
  • You have had breast cancer treated with radiation at least 1 year ago and are not on current cancer treatment.
  • You do not have long-term pain conditions like fibromyalgia or take daily opioid pain pills.
  • You are not on blood thinners that can't be stopped before surgery.
