Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old and scheduled for a first-time total knee replacement.
- Your surgery will use spinal anesthesia (not general anesthesia).
- You will receive two doses of tranexamic acid through your IV during surgery.
- You are able to take aspirin 81 mg twice a day after surgery to prevent blood clots.
- You do not have a history of blood clots, kidney disease, cancer, or allergy to tranexamic acid.
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy during the week after surgery.
