Who can take part

  • You are having surgery with general anesthesia that includes a muscle relaxant (a drug that temporarily stops your muscles from moving).
  • You will be admitted to the hospital after surgery (not same-day surgery).
  • You do not have a disease that affects your muscles or the nerves that control them (like muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, or ALS).
  • You are not going to the intensive care unit (ICU) right after surgery.
  • You can sign a consent form to participate.
