Adding rTMS to ECT for tough depression

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with major depression (unipolar or bipolar).
  • Your depression has not improved after trying at least two different antidepressants (or, for bipolar, lithium plus another mood stabilizer).
  • You have not had electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in the last 6 months.
  • You have never had repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) before.
  • You are not taking benzodiazepines or anti-seizure medication, and have been off them for at least 15 days.
  • You are able to understand and speak French, and are willing to give written consent.
