  • You are between 18 and 90 years old.
  • You need a new access point for dialysis, either because you are starting dialysis soon or already on hemodialysis.
  • Your doctor plans to create an AV fistula in your forearm as your first choice.
  • You have no condition that makes fistula surgery unsafe (like a vein problem).
  • You never had a failed fistula in the same arm before.
  • You can have an MRI safely (no pacemaker, metal implants, severe claustrophobia, or pregnancy).
