Who can take part
- You must have survived a cardiac arrest (either in or out of the hospital).
- The arrest must not have been caused by a drug overdose.
- You must not be able to follow verbal commands after cooling treatment is complete (or by day 2 or 3 in the hospital) — this is because the study focuses on patients with uncertain brain recovery.
- You should have no permanent metal in your body (like a pacemaker or aneurysm clip) that would prevent an MRI.
- You must not be pregnant.
