Who can take part

  • You are an adult (not a child).
  • Your cardiac arrest happened outside the hospital and was not caused by trauma.
  • You had at least 20 minutes without chest compressions before treatment was underway.
  • You were not fully awake—either you couldn’t follow verbal commands (low FOUR score motor response) or you are intubated and sedated because of agitation after sustained return of heartbeat (ROSC).
  • You can be enrolled in the intensive care unit without limits (no planned restrictions on the level of care).
  • You must be enrolled within 4 hours after ROSC.
