Can breathing machine energy predict lung inflammation?

Who can take part

  • You have low blood oxygen (less than 300 mmHg) and need a breathing machine.
  • You have been on the breathing machine for less than 6 hours.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a new area of lung infection or fluid buildup seen on a chest X-ray or CT scan.
  • You do not have a tracheostomy, severe anemia, severe neutropenia, kidney failure, or a high dose of blood pressure medication.
  • You are not pregnant and do not need a heart-lung bypass machine.
