Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that has come back or not fully gone away after previous treatment (like radiation, chemo, immunotherapy, or surgery).
- The cancer is only in the inner layers of the esophagus (mucosa or submucosa), and the muscle layer underneath is still healthy.
- You are generally healthy enough to undergo general anesthesia and do not have major organ problems (like severe heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease).
- You are not allergic to the study drug or related medications, and you have not used other photosensitizing drugs in the past 4 weeks.
