  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must have had your first blood clot in a large leg vein (like the popliteal or higher) confirmed by a scan.
  • You cannot be allergic or sensitive to colchicine.
  • You cannot have active diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, or certain blood disorders.
  • You cannot have a recent or active infection, severe liver disease, or known active cancer.
  • You cannot be taking certain medications like strong antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin) or immune-suppressing drugs.
