This trial combines three drugs—decitabine, venetoclax, and a targeted therapy (olutasidenib)—to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) that has come back or is not responding to treatment. It may also be an option for people newly diagnosed with AML who cannot receive intense chemotherapy.

Who can take part

  • You must have an IDH1 mutation in your cancer cells.
  • You have AML that has returned or is not responding, or high-risk MDS.
  • If newly diagnosed with AML, you must be 75 or older, or 18-74 with a health condition that makes intensive chemo unsafe.
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • Your kidney and liver function tests must be within certain limits (some flexibility depending on your situation).
  • You must not be pregnant or nursing, and must agree to use effective birth control if applicable.
