Higher dose radiation with hormone therapy for high-risk prostate cancer

High Risk Prostate Carcinoma

Who can take part

  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of prostate adenocarcinoma (a type of prostate cancer) within the last 6 months.
  • Your cancer must be high-risk: it has spread outside the prostate (T3a-T4), or has a high Gleason grade (4 or 5), or your PSA level was above 20 ng/mL.
  • You are currently receiving or plan to receive hormone therapy for your prostate cancer.
  • You are at least 20 years old and in good physical condition (ECOG score 0 or 1, meaning you can do daily activities without help).
  • You must agree to have a SpaceOAR procedure (a gel spacer placed between the prostate and rectum to protect the rectum during radiation).
  • You cannot have had prior surgery in the lower pelvis (like prostate removal or rectal cancer surgery), prior pelvic radiation, or cancer that has spread to lymph nodes or other organs.
