Who can take part

  • The patient must be 17 years old or younger.
  • The patient must be staying in a children's intensive care unit (PICU, CICU, or NICU) at the hospital.
  • The patient must be currently on ECMO (a heart-lung bypass machine) or at high risk of needing it.
  • The patient cannot be pregnant.
  • The patient must be able to have an MRI safely (no unsafe metal implants or devices).
