  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a serious brain injury and are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
  • You are on a breathing machine (ventilator).
  • Doctors are already planning to adjust your breathing machine's pressure settings.
  • You have a good 'acoustic window' for a brain ultrasound (a way to check blood flow in the brain).
  • You or your legal representative has signed a consent form agreeing to be in the study.
