Who can take part
- You are scheduled for planned (not emergency) heart valve surgery, with or without bypass.
- You may also have planned surgery on the main blood vessel in your chest or belly (aorta).
- You do not have a kidney transplant or need dialysis.
- You do not have severe liver disease (like confusion, very high bleeding risk).
- You must sign a consent form agreeing to take part before your surgery.
