This trial looks at whether a specific heart-surgery technique (called CLCVP) can help protect kidney function soon after surgery. It is mainly for adults with otherwise normal kidney tests before certain types of heart operations.

Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are having heart surgery such as CABG, heart valve surgery, heart transplant, or removal of an intracardiac myxoma.
- Your kidney function tests before surgery are normal (serum creatinine is below 133 μmol/L, and you were not told you had kidney problems in the prior 6 months).
- You were not on dialysis in the 60 days before surgery.
- You are not having an off-pump heart surgery.
- You are not pregnant, you have not had a prior kidney transplant, and you are not taking nitroglycerin drugs before surgery.
