This trial tests whether wearing a back brace after surgery helps prevent problems at the top of a spinal fusion. It is for adults aged 30-75 having their first spine fusion from near the middle of the back down to the tailbone or pelvis.

Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 75 years old
  • You are having your first ever spinal fusion surgery for adult spine deformity
  • The surgery will connect from a spot between T8 and L2 down to the sacrum (tailbone) or pelvis
  • You do not have osteoporosis (brittle bones)
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or less
  • Your spine curve is not caused by a nerve or muscle condition (like Parkinson's, cerebral palsy, or stroke) or by arthritis
