Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have a mature dialysis fistula in your arm that has been used at least once.
  • The blockage is in the vein part of your fistula, not the artery or where it connects.
  • A Doppler ultrasound shows the blockage is at least 50% and causes problems like high pressure during dialysis or low blood flow.
  • You are willing to come back for follow-up visits.

Drug-coated balloon for dialysis fistula narrowing

This trial tests a special balloon that releases medication to help keep your dialysis fistula (the blood vessel used for treatment) open longer if it has narrowed. It may be a good option if you have a blockage in the vein side of your fistula that causes problems during dialysis.
