Who can take part

  • This was your first stroke
  • Your stroke happened at least 6 months ago
  • You can walk with or without a little help (like a cane or a person's hand)
  • Your affected hip can be stretched back at least 10 degrees
  • You have good thinking and memory (like a score of 24 or higher on a memory test)
  • You don't have a pacemaker, severe heart disease, high blood pressure, or other nerve or bone problems that affect walking
