Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You are scheduled for planned (non-emergency) heart surgery that uses a transesophageal echo probe.
  • Your heart failure symptoms are mild to moderate (NYHA class I, II, or III).
  • Your heart's pumping strength (LV ejection fraction) is above 40%.
  • Your surgical risk score (EuroSCORE) is between 1 and 6.
  • You do not have a history of lung surgery, lung radiation, or severe lung disease (like needing home breathing support).
