Single versus double leg cycling for peripheral artery disease

Peripheral Arterial Disease

This study tests whether cycling with one leg or both legs works better to improve blood flow in people with peripheral artery disease (narrowed arteries in the legs). You will be randomly assigned to one of two exercise groups to see which helps more with walking pain and circulation.

Who can take part

  • You have mild to moderate peripheral artery disease (PAD) with an ankle-brachial index between 0.50 and 0.90.
  • You have leg pain when walking (claudication) that goes away with rest.
  • You are between 50 and 60 years old.
  • You have stopped smoking for at least 3 months.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 29.9.
