Who can take part

  • For women: you must have gone through menopause and not be taking hormone replacement therapy.
  • You must be a non-smoker.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be 30 or less.
  • You must have a calf skinfold thickness less than 20 mm (so the research device can work properly) and finger oxygen saturation above 95%.
  • You must not be taking antioxidant or vitamin supplements.
  • If you have PAD: you must have a confirmed diagnosis with an ankle-brachial index (ABI) below 0.90 in one or both legs and have leg pain when walking (claudication).
