Who can take part

  • You must have been diagnosed with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat that lasts for more than a week).
  • You should be between 20 and 80 years old.
  • Your left atrium (the upper heart chamber) must be smaller than 55 mm on an ultrasound.
  • You must not have had a previous catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
  • Your heart's pumping ability must be at least 30% (measured by ultrasound).
  • You must be willing to follow the study plan and sign a consent form.
