Using a face mask breathing support in premature babies with breathing trouble

Who can take part

  • Your baby was born before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Your baby is breathing on their own but shows signs of breathing difficulty (fast breathing, flaring nostrils, pulling in of the chest, or grunting).
  • Your baby does not need a breathing tube or a machine to breathe for them.
  • Your baby does not have any major birth defects or serious heart problems (except a common small heart opening).
  • Your baby was not severely oxygen-deprived at birth (Apgar score at 1 minute > 3).
