Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older with high-risk essential thrombocythemia (ET).
  • Hydroxyurea (HU) has not worked well for you or caused serious side effects.
  • You have not used interferon therapy before, or if you did, it was at least 1 month ago.
  • Your platelet count is currently above 450 and your blood counts (neutrophils, hemoglobin) are within safe limits.
  • You do not have serious liver, kidney, eye, autoimmune, or heart problems, or active infections other than hepatitis B/C.
