  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for surgery that requires general anesthesia (you will be completely asleep)
  • You do not have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other metal implant in your chest, neck, or head
  • You are not pregnant
  • You have not had seizures or epilepsy
  • Your surgery is not on your head, neck, or spine, and does not require a heart-lung machine
