Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a long spinal fusion — at least from L2 to the pelvis (lower back) or from C2 to T2 (neck to upper back).
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are not currently receiving cancer therapy or taking immune-suppressing drugs.
  • You have not had spine surgery within the past 6 months other than this planned one.
  • You do not have a slow heart rhythm or a pacemaker.
  • You do not have a history of substance abuse.
