Ear nerve stimulation for less pain medication after major abdominal surgery

Pain Management

Part of Brain & nervous system clinical trials.

This trial tests whether a gentle electrical stimulation on the outer ear can help reduce the amount of strong pain medicine (opioids) you need after a major abdominal surgery. The stimulation targets a nerve called the vagus nerve, which helps control pain and recovery.

Ear nerve stimulation for recovery after major surgery

This trial tests if stimulating a nerve in your ear (vagus nerve) before and after noncardiac surgery can improve your recovery. It's for adults aged 18 to 84 having planned or time-sensitive surgery lasting at least 2 hours.

Ear nerve stimulation for anxiety before and after major abdominal surgery

This study tests whether gentle electrical stimulation of a nerve in the ear (called taVNS) can help reduce anxiety before and after major abdominal surgery. It may offer a non-drug option for patients who feel nervous about their operation.
