Who can take part

  • You have non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) that has been converted back to a normal heart rhythm (sinus rhythm) either by medication, an electrical shock, or on its own.
  • You do not have rheumatic heart disease.
  • You do not have thyroid problems.
  • You do not have Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome.
  • You do not have kidney problems or high potassium levels.
  • You have not recently had a heart attack or unstable angina, and you are not pregnant.
  • Your heart's pumping function (ejection fraction) is 40% or higher.
  • You are not currently taking eplerenone.
