Who can take part
- You have persistent atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm problem that lasts more than a week) and your left atrium (a heart chamber) is enlarged (40-50 mm measured by ultrasound).
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You are willing to take amiodarone (a medication) and undergo cardioversion (a procedure to restore normal heart rhythm).
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy in the next 2 years.
- You do not have serious kidney, liver, thyroid, or heart problems, or a known allergy to amiodarone or iodine.
