Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are currently having difficulty breathing, with either a fast breathing rate (22 breaths per minute or more) or low oxygen levels in your blood.
  • You have had or will have a blood sample taken from an artery as part of your emergency care.
  • You can be included in the study within 1 hour of arriving at the emergency room.
  • You agree to take part in the study.
