Who can take part

  • You are being seen in the emergency department for sudden trouble breathing (acute dyspnea).
  • You have a known history of COPD (from medical records or what you/family report).
  • You are 18 years or older and agree to take part.
  • Your blood pressure is not too low (systolic under 90 or mean under 65).
  • You have not joined this same study in a prior emergency visit.
  • You are not already on a breathing machine (invasive or non-invasive) in the ER.
