Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and have not had surgery to remove the parathyroid gland.
- You need surgery for PHPT because of osteoporosis, kidney stones, high calcium, or other related problems.
- You are from a racial or ethnic minority group, live in a lower-income area, have financial worries, or have limited health insurance (like Medicaid, Medicare, or none).
- You do not have end-stage kidney disease, a kidney transplant, vitamin D deficiency, or certain rare conditions.
- You are willing and able to give permission to be in the study.
