- You have been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis.
- You are between 20 and 40 years old.
- You do not have any other inflammatory rheumatic disease (like psoriatic arthritis).

- You have not had heart surgery or a stroke in the last 6 months.
- You do not have other major risk factors for hardening of the arteries.
