Who can take part
- You are between 17 and 60 years old.

This trial tests vonaprazan (two doses) against esomeprazole to see which better heals moderate-to-severe reflux esophagitis (a damaged esophagus from acid reflux) in 8 weeks. You may qualify if you have had heartburn or regurgitation for at least a month and your doctor found grade B, C, or D damage on an endoscopy.
