Who can take part
- You are male and between 40 and 90 years old.
- You have bothersome urinary symptoms (like a weak stream, frequent urination, or trouble starting) that are not relieved by other treatments, or you have had a complete blockage that required a catheter.
- Your prostate is larger than 80 cc (about the size of a small lime) as measured by ultrasound or MRI.
- Your PSA level is below 4 ng/ml, or if it's higher, a special MRI shows no signs of cancer.
- You have not had any previous prostate surgery, pelvic radiation, or surgery for a tight urethra (urinary passage).
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less (not in the obese range).
