PET/MRI brain scans for understanding depression

This trial uses two special brain scans (DPA-714 and FDG PET/MRI) to look at inflammation and brain activity in people with first-episode or recurrent depression, and in healthy volunteers. It aims to find brain differences that could lead to better treatments.

Who can take part

  • You are between 35 and 85 years old if you have recurrent depression, or a similar age as those patients if it is your first episode.
  • You have not had any alcohol, coffee, or other psychoactive substances in the 24 hours before the scan.
  • You score at least 24 on the MMSE memory test and 26 on the MOCA thinking test.
  • You have not taken any anti-infective medicine in the past month or had a cold or fever in the past 2 weeks.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and can complete the required questionnaires.
  • You do not have any MRI contraindications (like metal implants) or serious medical conditions (like heart, liver, or kidney disease).
