Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 65 years old.
  • You have knee osteoarthritis diagnosed by a doctor, with moderate to severe changes on X-ray (grade 2 or 3).
  • You have had knee pain and trouble using your knee for at least 3 months.
  • Your pain at rest is at least 40 out of 100 on a pain scale.
  • You have not had any knee surgery or broken a leg or thigh bone.
  • You are not pregnant, and your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or less.
  • You are not taking anti-inflammatory drugs (like ibuprofen) this week or certain pain pills recently.
