Can repetitive TMS help with levodopa-induced dyskinesia?

This study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called repetitive TMS can reduce the involuntary movements (dyskinesia) that some people with Parkinson's disease experience as a side effect of their levodopa medication. If you have Parkinson's and bothersome dyskinesia when your medication is working, this trial may be an option.

Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
  • You experience involuntary, jerky movements (dyskinesia) when your levodopa medication is working.
  • Your Parkinson's medications have been stable for at least 4 weeks.
  • You do not have a current psychiatric disorder or take certain medications (like antipsychotics, donepezil, pregabalin, gabapentin, or regular benzodiazepines/opioids).
  • You have no other neurological disorders, no personal or close family history of epilepsy or conditions that increase seizure risk.
  • You are able to undergo an MRI scan and are not pregnant (if female and of childbearing age).
